Revision Tips- There's No Standard Formula For Success!

With the amount of effort we invest in our revision, it's only natural to question if we are making the most of our time.

It can be tempting to look at what other people are doing and base our revision plan on that. 

But who is to say that what works for someone else is going to work for you?

Many academics have published theory on how we fit into different types of learning styles.

Some suggest there are as many as seven types of learning styles with others simplifying it down to three. 

It all essentially comes down to how you work best - Do you enjoy reading through the text? Do you respond better to the visual aids in a video? Do you prefer to get hands-on and practice for yourself?

Find what suits you...


There is no right or wrong way to revise- it just depends on what suits you. 

If you struggle to take in information by just reading through the text then switch things up. Try and take notes from the text, or watch a video which explains the theory.  

You could put all the hours into your revision, but unless you are revising in a way which gets the best out of yourself, you will still struggle when you come to sit your exam. 

By all means look at what other people suggest you could be doing with your revision, but only you will be able to discover what works best. 

Don't get stuck with one resource...

The best way to ensure you are making the most of your revision time, is to use a variety of types of resources. 

It might be tempting to stick to reading the text but you could still end up with gaps in your knowledge when it comes to exam day.

But if you use the study text, watch the videos and do the practice questions then you are much more likely to have a rounded understanding in everything you need to know.
