Part 2: Mock exams

I'm sure you know how important it is to take mocks before your real CIMA exams, however, many students fail to make the most out of their mocks, and I don't want you to be one of those students!

In Part 1 of this blog post, I discussed the ways to make your revision questions dynamic, interesting and engaging. Well, now it's time to turn our attention to mock exams - so keep reading to find out the best techniques for using mock exams as part of your CIMA revision!

I want you to use your CIMA mocks to their full potential, so that you can bag that all important pass. With that in mind, here is my advice on how to best to approach them:

1) Take the exams under timed conditions
I can't say this enough - you NEED to practice your time management ahead of your real CIMA exams. If you aren't used to working against the clock, then the pressure of the real thing is likely to be too much and your performance could suffer. As mentioned in Part 1 of this blog, I would recommend using our CIMA Exam Practice Kits to test yourself informally prior to your mocks. These packs are specifically designed for revision purposes.

2) Take consecutive mocks
One CIMA mock exam is rarely enough to get an accurate picture of the areas you need to work on. The ideal way to use mocks is to take your first one, revise some more (particularly on the areas you fell down on) and then take another, until you feel confident for the real thing. You can find out about Astranti's full range of CIMA mocks here.

3) Revise for your mocks as if they were the real thing
The mistake most students make when taking their mocks is that they don't sufficiently revise for them. You should plan specific dates on which you will sit your mocks, and revise with those dates in mind. Not only does this encourage you to begin studying much earlier than you otherwise would, it also gives you the most accurate picture of how you will perform in the real thing.

I hope the tips in Parts 1 and 2 of this blog post can help you get the most out of your revision, and bag that all important pass! Don't forget to follow Astranti on Twitter and like us on Facebook. Until next time, happy studying!
